#GetOutHere with Nike Toronto

The moment we have all been dreading has unfortunately arrived. Winter is here. Although I know we all hate the freezing cold, I’m ecstatic to tell you that Christmas came early this year. Nike.com Live has officially been launched in Canada! And to celebrate, my girls and I partook in NTC classes led by Master Trainers Eva Redpath and Ryan Lauderdale, as well as Olympian Paula Findley from November 19 – 2. It has been a while since we all trained together so what better way than getting our butt’s kicked in -3 degree weather? Thankfully we were lucky enough to be training in Nike’s new Hyperwarm gear – so the cold never bothered us anyway.

“Any season is training season” Which means, we’re not going to let the elements get in the way of our goals this winter. To help, Nike is offering us a four week #GetOutHere series at the top of the Tiff Bell Lightbox. Last Monday marked week 1 of 4 (It’s been 6 days and I’m still feeling it!) Nonetheless, starting this week I plan to get in 4 other workouts before seeing Eva again on the following Monday. If you haven’t gotten the chance to register for one of the sessions, I highly suggest you do!  Click here for more info.

Holiday season is around the corner…you know what that means? No time for snacking (I mean slacking!)

The FF

If I could eat red velvet cupcakes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner I would – with no hesitation. But I’m hoping to reach my goal weight by christmas so I’ve had to say goodbye to bae. “Freshman Fifteen” is probably one of the many things on an 18 year old girls’ “Things to stress about” list. Trying to balance out your school, work, and social life is hard and then on top of that you’re supposed to balance out what you’re eating. It’s hard, but it’s also doable. With first semester coming to an end, I’ve learned that prepping my meals ahead of time is what eliminates the need for me to go out and buy the most convenient thing, which tends to be cheap junk food. Ensuring that I’m not a victim of the FF not only requires me to be cautious about what I eat but when I eat it. My biggest issue is starting my day off with not eating enough and binge eating a heavy meal at night – which is the last thing you want to be doing. I figured I wasn’t the only one struggling with this, so below I’ve attached 5 easy meal plans that’ll get you on track to avoid the FF. Enjoy!

I wasn’t joking. Red cupcakes are bae.

#RunMore with Adidas Canada

Screen Shot 2015-11-02 at 10.33.38 AM

I wish I could describe the feeling I had after crossing that finish line. 1:03:39. Not the best, not the worst and yet I’ve still never been so proud. I completed my first 10K! You know when you tell yourself you can’t do something but surprise yourself and end up killing it? Yeah, it was one of those. It wasn’t so much about getting the recognition or getting the medal but about the sense of feeling accomplished afterwards.

Adidas created #RunMore as an opportunity for athletes to take advantage of day light savings by challenging them to run a 10k at 1am. Our number one excuse for anything tends to be that we don’t have time but now that we had a 25 hour day, what was our excuse? I’m not going to lie, when my big sis (@sashaexeter) first approached me about this, I was reluctant…but it’s been three days since the race and I still can’t stop smiling every time I think about it. Sooo the moral of the story is don’t let your thoughts cloud your judgement. You’re capable of doing anything you set your mind to.

If I could name one thing that physically got me through that race, it 110% was my playlist. Having the right playlist is so key when it comes to training. I wouldn’t listen to Future while doing a meditative workout just like I wouldn’t want to listen to Adele while trying to kill a 10K. So I’ve attached my #RunMore playlist for those of you looking for a new workout/running playlist this week! Enjoy!
